Leaf morphology.jpg

Through the study of leaf systems, there are characteristics that can be taken from vein systems that reflect the circulation and spatial arrangements seen within architectural design. The veins of the leaf’s represent the circulation and the negative spaces in between represent the spaces. Nine different vein variations were analysed.

Iterations one: Implementation of the four vein systems on circulation routes through the building form.

Iteration two: Using the negative spaces between the veins to create organic interior spaces.

Iteration three: Removal of unusable spaces that were too small for habitation and to also create more open spaces to ease navigation.

Iteration four: Refinement of vein system choice and how this can connect to the schedule of accommodation in each building form.
